Under general supervision, the Accounting Officer will be involved with the Financial Information System for California (FI$CAL) project manager and actively participate in FI$CAL work group meetings as they relate to State Agency Financial Management activities in Fiscal Programs Division (FPD), not only while FPD transitions on to FI$CAL, but also ongoing after implementation. The Accounting Officer will analyze, audit, review and process vendor payments and request replenishment of Office Revolving Fund account in FI$CAL. The Accounting Officer will run reports using the FI$CAL system and will process reconciliations on FI$CAL.
The Accounting Officer Specialist works at a professional level to maintain various types of accounts payable records; processes the vendor payments; makes various types of entries in the Encumbrance Tracking System (ETS) and applies accounting rules and regulations to specific types of payments under general supervision from the Sr. Accounting Officer. This position requires extensive use and knowledge of automated accounting systems and fiscal accounting procedures. This position requires extensive knowledge of governmental accounting principals and procedures. The Accounting Officer Specialist is required to take direction with a positive attitude and make sound analytical decisions in accordance with EDD policy and procedures. The incumbent must also be able to apply appropriate problem solving skills to monitor and complete assignments in a timely manner. The Accounting Officer Specialist must also exhibit strong accounting skills to reconcile manual and automated accounting data using spreadsheet applications.
