Job Description

General Summary

The Communication Intern will gain valuable hands-on experience in the electric utility industry and exposure to a wide range of communication functions, including content creation, social media management, and media relations. This internship provides a unique opportunity to collaborate with a dynamic team and develop a deeper understanding of communication applications in the utility sector.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities / Knowledge

• Shadows, supports, and collaborates with the Communications Team.
• Participate in Communications team meetings to further develop understanding of communication operations and contribute ideas and solutions.
• Assists with the development, creation and distribution of internal and external communications across multiple platforms, including internal media, social media, website and other channels.
• Creates, edits, and produces graphic designs that align with Rayburn culture, messaging, and brand for a wide range of projects.
• Collaborates with various departments to support communication related tasks and projects.

Key Accountabilities

• Complies with all policies, procedures, and confidentiality agreements effective as a result of employment with Rayburn.
• Shares information with Rayburn management and staff, contractors, and other third parties in a timely manner, as required.
• Delegates jobs and tasks to appropriate employees, providing complete information and resources to properly complete such jobs and tasks.
• Provides Rayburn management with updates and/or reports on work and tasks as requested or required.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or executive management

Education

Job Specifications / Skills Required

• Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s degree Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or a related field is preferred

• Evidence of the practice of a high-level confidentiality
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Excellent organizational skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Able to work effectively in a team environment; willing to assist others
• Ability to carry out a variety of activities which require a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license

Physical Demands

• Ability to sit for extended periods of time at a computer workstation.
• Ability to perform repetitive motions in order to use a computer keyboard, mouse, etc.
• Ability to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
