Job Description

Machine Estimator. Strong knowledge of machine setups for production runs. Prepare accurate cost and time estimates for machining projects, considering factors such as material costs, machine setup time and production.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Understand the project/program and its requirements.
• Determine key variables for cost and other estimates.
• Gather first-hand information from sites, warehouses or other venues.
• Conduct research to obtain data on labor costs, materials, production time, etc.
• Use software for data analysis, forecasting and budgeting.
• Obtain and review offers and quotes by subcontractors or vendors.
• Build positive relationships with key vendors.
• Create and submit estimate reports or bids to appropriate persons (project managers, clients, bidding competitions, etc.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Experience is Excel and Word
• Math Background
• Machining Background is needed.
• Able to think outside the box. 
• Ability to read prints and approve some tooling.
• Some tool design experience would be helpful.
• Able to work with outside vendors to get quotes and recommend orders.
• Able to work with customers to get costs approved.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Positive phone ethics
