Weston Solutions is seeking a Project Geologistto be responsible for task leadership, execution, and control, ensuring adherence to project scope, budget, and schedules. Candidate would serve as the Task Leader on specific tasks and/or lead routine to moderately complex scopes of work under the direction of the Project Manager (PM) or Principal and Senior Project staff. They are accountable for handling specific technical aspects of projects appropriate to the Geoscience discipline as members of multidisciplinary teams, including directing, guiding, and overseeing field teams. This candidate would mainly support a major program/client in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma but may support other projects from time to time.

 

Location:Ideal candidate lives within 200 miles of Oklahoma City/Tulsa, OK, or Dallas, TX

 

Examples of activities the Project Geologist may perform:

  • Designing and implementing complex environmental drilling programs,
  • Developing scopes of work for complex environmental drilling programs to obtain subcontractor bids,
  • Guiding project team in the execution of large, complex environmental drilling programs and soil/groundwater investigations for a variety of contaminants,
  • Serve as Task Leader on specific tasks as assigned by the Project Manager with responsibility to oversee/manage project team in the execution and serve as the liaison between the project team and Project Manager and/or between the project team and the Technical Director
  • Interface/engage with multi-disciplined project team and client to include face-to-face interaction with client
  • Support development of cost and technical proposals, as needed

 

Expected Outcomes:

  • Analyze, prepare, and present meaningful and precisely written scientific reports of field and laboratory results appropriate to the defined areas of investigation and based on collected data. 
  • Participate in peer review of work scopes, project implementation plans, operating procedures, training, schedules, budgets, technical calculations and interpretations, and deliverables.
  • Comply with technical specifications and standard operating procedures defined in the project scope of work.
  • Plan, lead and be responsible for complex field and office assignments, including environmental field investigations, sampling programs, and interpretation of data.
  • Lead and work within a multi-disciplined project team.
  • Ability to develop and execute environmental geology-related tasks in the field including monitoring well installation, soil sampling, soil and rock descriptions, groundwater sampling, and borehole logging.
  • Work independently with periodic guidance.
  • Clearly and accurately perform data evaluation/interpretation.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to junior team members, as needed.
  • Identify new technologies and techniques and evaluate their applicability and potential benefits for the company. 
  • Coordinate field operations and data collection, with respect to schedule, field budget, and health and safety requirements.
  • Serve as a technical lead in their area of specialty, solving technical problems with appropriate assistance from senior and principal staff.
  • Work with team on problems of diverse scope and complexity which require sound judgment when selecting methods, analyzing data, and determining methods for reaching solutions.
  • Ability to lead moderate to complex scopes of work and field tasks, comply with health and safety requirements and prepare health and safety plans.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, or Geoscience and have at least 8-12 years of related experience including environmental field investigation, sample collection, and data evaluation. 
  • Experience must include 3 years in assisting scoping projects and planning, leading, and performing field activities.
  • Geologist in Training (GIT) or Professional Geologist (P.G.) License/Certification preferred. 
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER required
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare project reports independently including analyze, interpret, and present data and meet deadlines outlined by project leadership.
  • Capable technical resource who handles core technical issues.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks to meet project requirements.
  • Familiarity with groundwater modeling and data visualization is desired.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office® software, as well as various means of communication.
  • Demonstrated strength in verbal and written communications is necessary.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team building traits are highly preferred. 
  • Available to travel as needed although majority of work would occur at client’s Oklahoma City facility.

Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors.

 

 

Salary Range: $71,135-$93,890-$116,543
